New Director of Rugby Appointed

We are restructuring our coaching support to ensure all sections of the Club get the support they deserve and need.  The first stage in this process is the appointment of a Director of Rugby.  This post was recently advertised and a link to the job specification can be found here so you can all see what we see as the key elements of the role.

We had 8 expressions of interest for the role and interviewed 7 excellent candidates.  The unanimous decision of the Board of Trustees was that Tom Armes should be offered the role and I am delighted to say that Tom has been appointed.  I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Tom to this critically important role.

Tom has a long history with the Club having played in our minis and youth sections before playing professionally at, inter alia, Leicester Tigers and Bedford Blues.  He has coached our Colts and in 2 stints over 5 years has been the head coach of our senior men leading them to one promotion and a third placed finish this year - the highest we have ever achieved.  It is testament to his philosophy that on Saturday at West Norfolk we finished with 12 players on the pitch who were under 23 years of age and all of whom had played in our youth section.

Tom will be spending the next few weeks meeting all sections of the Club with a particular focus on ensuring he has meetings with all head coaches.  I will then be agreeing a list of objectives for Tom covering the next 2 years.  We have agreed that when those objectives are agreed, we will circulate them to the whole Club and make them available on our website.

I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Tom to this critically important role.

Regards.
