DOG POLICY

Wymondham Rugby Football Club

The issue of dogs at Barnard Fields has long been a source of conflict with polarised views as to whether the policy should be retained.  It is impossible to please everyone but we have nevertheless decided to relax our no dogs policy in a very limited and specific way.  The general ban will remain in place but members only may now bring well-behaved dogs to Barnard fields provided they comply with the following conditions:

 

  1. This change will only apply in respect of competitive games on the main pitch (ie the pitch in front of the Clubhouse) played on a Friday evening, Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon.

  2. Dogs must remain on the hard-surfaced areas (including the slated area) immediately surrounding the Clubhouse and the roads and paths and car park areas to access the area immediately surrounding the Clubhouse.

  3. Dogs must be on a short leash under close and direct adult supervision ie they are not to be under the direct control of a child.

  4. Dogs will not be allowed into the Clubhouse, nor on the balcony or the staircases leading to the balcony and nor must they be left unattended, other than in a vehicle in car park - and then only when it is not dangerous to do so.

  5. Owners must clean up after their dogs properly and immediately. We will not be providing dog bins at the Club.

  6. For the avoidance of doubt, dogs are not allowed on any grassed area, in the Clubhouse or balcony even if they are being carried.

  7. A dog which breaches these conditions will automatically be banned from the grounds, including their owner.

  8. Registered assistance dogs and their owners are exempt from these regulations.

 

It is important to remember that many members are not in favour of dogs being allowed at Barnard Fields and with the greatest respect, we don’t following this communication need to be reminded about that!  The onus will be on dogs and their owners to show that they and their dogs can be trusted to abide by these conditions.  We will continue to monitor the situation but if the relaxation is not complied with, we will not hesitate to end it

Please note that ONLY members are able to bring their dogs onto the site, in accordance with the above conditions.
